Johnsonville State Historic Park preserves the site of a Civil War naval battle on the Tennessee River. The park features walking trails, historic earthworks, and interpretive exhibits covering the 1864 Confederate raid led by General Nathan Bedford Forrest. It sits along the Kentucky Lake shoreline about 20 minutes from Center Hill Lake.

Nathan Bedford Forrest State Park covers approximately 2,587 acres of land along the shores of Kentucky Lake. The park offers hiking trails, picnic areas, a campground, and a small museum. It's a popular spot for birdwatching and wildlife viewing, and hosts an annual Civil War reenactment each fall.
