What is glamping?

"Glamping" is a combination of "glamorous" and "camping." It refers to a style of camping that combines the experience of the great outdoors with more luxurious and comfortable accommodations and amenities. While traditional camping often involves roughing it in a tent, cooking over an open fire, and minimal creature comforts, Glamping offers a more refined and comfortable camping experience.

Do the glamping accommodations have heat and air?

Accepted Answer

Yes, all of our accommodations feature a mini-split heating and cooling system. Heating capacity is limited to increasing the inside temperature by 40-45 degrees from the outside temperature. However, each accommodation is equipped with a space heater and a heated blanket for those cold winter nights.

Where are you located?

We currently offer three small campuses. Our first are the private domes and Snuggle Bus the skoolie in Altamont, TN, about one hour from Nashville and Chattanooga. All three have stunning mountaintop views. The domes in Center Hill Lake offer stunning lake views and luxurious finishes. On the Ocoee River, the Conestoga wagons of Welcome Valley are the perfect getaway for three groups or families. The wagon corral surrounds a large shared firepit, and each wagon has a private, dedicated, luxury campground bathroom outside the actual wagon.

Can we arrive at night?

You can arrive any time that suits you; however, because of the somewhat remote locations in Altamont and Smithville, things get rather dark, and we try to avoid aggressively lighting the approach to preserve the stunning night sky views. The wagons of Ocoee are in a gated riverside resort called Welcome Valley Village and are always well-lit at night.

Are there any grocery stores nearby?

We do advise that you come prepared. The closest supermarket to the Altamont campus is in Manchester, TN, and in Smithville, it's about a 20-minute drive to the supermarket. Likewise, on the Ocoee River, the wagons are about 20 minutes from the nearest Walmart or Food City.

Does the shower have hot water?

Yes, all showers come equipped with a water heater sufficient to carry an average small size home.

Is there firewood onsite?

Accepted Answer

Yes, firewood is provided onsite. However, we recommend purchasing firewood before your stay (save 20%) during checkout. If you are staying at a dome in Altamont or Smithville, a tote of about 15 logs will be delivered before your stay, awaiting your arrival if you purchase in advance. At Welcome Valley Village on the Ocoee River, we have bundles of firewood in a covered hut that you can pick up if you paid in advance or pay for when you pick them up (though discounts will not apply).

Do you have plans for other locations?

Yes, in fact, we do! Tennessee Glamping is owned by Timberroot Rustic Retreats, based in Chattanooga, TN. We plan to develop glamping accommodations in Chattanooga and through a sister label on a campus bordering Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina.

You may find our accommodations on Airbnb, VRBO, or another channel. However, you will always find the guaranteed best rate and best experience by booking directly on our site.

Are you pet-friendly Glamping?

Accepted Answer

Yes, pets are welcome in the domes, but not the wagons. We do charge a pet fee, so you are required to let us know if you plan to bring a furry family member.
